Metallic Finishes:
We use the highest quality solid brass from which we hand cut our shades. Our #61 Polished Brass finish is then polished and buffed giving it a reflective quality. A coat of clear lacquer is then applied to protect and seal the finish for a lifetime of use. #51 Satin Brass is a matte, burnished brass, finished in a flat protective lacquer. For our #56 Statuary Bronze, we use a translucent lacquer which gives the shade a tawny metallic finish.
Hand Rubbed Patinas:
Our finish patinas are achieved by coloring solid brass with an application of acid oxide. #71 Antique Brass is an oxidized finish, darkened, then partially rubbed away, leaving dark highlights throughout. #91 Oil Rubbed Bronze is our darkest oxidized finish, its rich metallic tones are an industry standard. For our #76 Weathered Brass, we prepare our brass leaving slight surface variations and lightly dip to create a natural, aged appearance. All of our oxidized finishes are protected with a finish coat of matte lacquer.
Smooth Painted Finishes:
Our picture lights are of museum quality and we have developed painted finishes that most suit the frames they will highlight. All of our painted finishes are opaque. #1 Gold, our most popular picture light finish, has the look of pale gold leaf. #5 Bronze, is a rich, milk chocolate hue. #31 Pewter is a matte gray, gun metal finish. #81 Mahogany Bronze is a deep shade of brown, our darkest bronze painted finish.
Textured Painted Finishes:
To achieve our textured finishes, we use a two step application. First a base coat of textured lacquer is applied, giving an uneven, distressed appearance. We finish with a color coat, to create our #2 Wrinkled Gold, or our #42 Wrinkled Platinum. The result is an aged, old world look, highlighted in gold or silver.
Powder Coated Finishes:
#7 Black and #9 White are a matte powder-coated finish. The powder coating will ensure a lifetime of use, free from scratching and marring.
Plated Finishes:
Our two plated finishes give our classic shades a more contemporary feel. As well as protecting them from surface marring. #62 Chrome has a highly polished, mirror-like appearance, while our #52 Satin Nickel is burnished after plating for a softer, matte finish. |
